Immunotherapies, including CAR T-cell therapy, are the newest treatment option and play an ever-expanding role in patient care. ONS is excited to share information on immunotherapies during congress this year. First, join us Wednesday afternoon, when ONS is proud to partner with the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) to present Checks and Balances: Cancer Immunotherapy for the Advanced Practice Nurse. This session will review the role of immunotherapy in patients with cancer and discuss assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adverse events. Two advanced practice nurses involved with SITC will use a case study approach to answer your questions related to immunotherapy and adverse events. This will be an interactive presentation, so come prepared to participate and have your questions answered.

On Saturday afternoon, a nurse practitioner  and physician will present CAR T: Where We Are and Where We Are Going. This presentation is changing as you read this blog because new indications using CAR T-cell therapy are currently being researched. This session is a great balance between the medicine and physician side of deciding when to use CAR T-cell therapy and the nurse practitioner side of treatment and patient management. The science behind CAR T will be discussed, as will the newest indications and trials. This session will help advanced practice nurses see all sides of treatment and best practices related to treatment management of adverse events, such as cytokine release syndrome.

We cannot wait to share these sessions with you. It will be a great review of the latest and greatest treatment options for our patients.
